These are ideas we put towards developing our Duet piece

We recorded Sophie sleeping for our duet and wrote down what we saw. I noticed Sophie's heavy breathing so we tried to do this but develop it and make it less obvious by representing the heavy breathing but using a different part of the body..

A starting piece for our Duet

This is a piece we was working on for our Duet piece. It is based on dreaming. We started it about Deja Vu and it developed to dreams. We then looked at common dreams and one we looked at was falling. We looked into falling and the feelings and reasons why we dream of falling and then developed it into movement.

Body Story - Breathing

I would like to base my Body Story on Breathing and respiration. I feel this is good for me to focus on because it is a big part of my movement. I think that i don't breath enough when i'm dancing and i think too much about when and how often i should be breathing that my breathing becomes irregular. Usually too fast. This makes my intake of Oxygen higher and causes me to panic. Therefore i feel looking at breathing will be something good for me to look at

About my Body Story

This is to do with Breathing and the respiratory system. This helps me a lot as this is what i will be studying in my Viva Body story as i feel that is appropriate for me.

A video of me in class

This is a motif we did in one of Andreas movement classes. I feel by recording myself and then putting it on my Blog, i can see what i was doing wrong and it helps me to understand the feedback i was given by my fellow peers

This is my improvised solo for my assessment. I based it on Evolution. I feel that it went well but i was quite disappointed as due to me being nervous i obviously rushed it and missed bits out that i did through out my rehearsals

This is an interview off a fellow colleague who has witnessed my moving

-what do you think i do well when i am dancing?
You have a good head tail connection and you fully extend everything from your torso right out to your fingers and toes.

-what do you think i need to concentrate on and don't do as well?
I feel you need to work on your fulidity through movement, making sure you finish each move before moving on to the next and also think about your head strings more pulling you up.

-what do i need to do to work on these things?
Go over any set material between classes so you know the phrase and dont need to think about what comes next, having a feel for what you are moving from helps too. Imagine you have strings pulling you up from the skull.

-how do you think i move as a dancer?
I think your movement is quite strong and sharp.

-how can i make my style more contemporary?
Think about softening your muscles and bones, release tension. Also work with slower movement phrases to get a feel of becoming more fluid and soft because you tend to work fast and sharp.
